Complex aromatic array of dried flowers, flint, cranberry, violets, cocoa and cinnamon spice in the nose. The palate is brimming with plum, black cherry, pomegranate, blueberry with tobacco and and a slight gamey character in the finish. The wine is smooth and round on the palate while still nicely framed by underlying tannins and good acidity.
The 2009 vintage exhibits its familiar montage of plum, lavender, and sage aromatics. The sweet boysenberry fruit on the palate is balanced by black pepper and a chewy tannic structure. The wine combines lush texture with impressive focus and length. Upon airing, blackberry and pomegranate notes hint of more layers to be revealed over time
Aromas of plum, lavender and raspberry jam elevate above deeper tones of leather, cassis, blackberry and spice. The wine is mouth filling, silky and lushly textured while finishing with ample structure and grip. The wine opens to greater depth with time in the glass, hinting at the rewards sure to come with further bottle age.
